Illumination Robust Facial Feature Detection via Decoupled Illumination and Texture Features
نویسندگان
چکیده
A method for illumination robust facial feature detection on frontal images of the human face is proposed. Illumination robust features are produced from weighted contributions of the texture and illumination components of an image where the illumination is estimated via Bayesian least-squares minimization with the required posterior probability inferred using an adaptive Monte-Carlo sampling approach. This estimate is used to decouple the illumination and texture components, from which Haar-like features are extracted. A weighted aggregate of each component’s features is then compared with a cascade of pre-trained classifiers for the face, eyes, nose, and mouth. Experimental results against the Yale Face Database B suggest higher sensitivity and F1 score values than current methods while maintaining comparable specificity and accuracy in the presence of non-ideal illumination conditions.

Computationally Efficient Invariant Facial Expression Recognition
The most important bottleneck for facial expression recognition system is recognizing the expression in uncontrolled environments with minimum computational time consumption. This problem has been addressed by combining the robust local texture descriptors which are invariant to illumination effects. In this work, the illumination effects are eliminated by using Weber Local Descriptor (WLD). Ne...
متن کاملCombining skin texture and facial structure for face identification
Current face identification systems are not robust enough to accurately identify the same individual in different images with changes in head pose, facial expression, occlusion, length of hair, illumination, aging, etc. This is especially a problem for facial images that are captured using low resolution video cameras or webcams. This paper introduces a new technique for facial identification i...
متن کاملRobust Face Recognition using Local Illumination Normalization and Discriminant Feature Point Selection
Face recognition systems must be robust to the variation of various factors such as facial expression, illumination, head pose and aging. Especially, the robustness against illumination variation is one of the most important problems to be solved for the practical use of face recognition systems. Gabor wavelet is widely used in face detection and recognition because it gives the possibility to ...
متن کاملIllumination-robust Change Detection Using Texture Based Features
We propose a change detection method which is robust against illumination change and requires little background learning as a result of using texture based features. We propose Peripheral TErnary Sign Correlation (PTESC) which is robust against illumination changes by using −1/0/1 ternary code for encoding the intensity difference between pixels in texture, and combine it with Bi-polar Radial R...
متن کاملA Fully Automatic Approach to Facial Feature Detection and Tracking
The detection of facial features is a necessary step for a wide range of applications e.g. person veriication, lipreading and model-based face coding. Due to changes in illumination, visual angle and facial expressions , the variability of facial features in their appearance is high. A robust approach to facial feature detection has to handle these variations. In this framework, we present an a...
